The event SEEING VOICES, that took place in 1996, had two goals: to share with the general audience our growing body of research on the grammatical structure of ISL, and to change some myths and misconceptions regarding ISL and Deaf people. The event consisted of talks about the grammatical structure of ISL, and its richness of expression. In addition, the Deaf consultants who work in the lab shared with the
audience their experiences as Deaf people both in their own community and in a hearing world.
